My Story

I was born and raised in Alphabet City, known today as the Lower East Side and Loisaida.  I tell my sons all the time that growing up in the 80’s as a NuyoRican was the best!

But then I sit and think, was it really the best? The best way I could have grown up? The best place to be raised?

You see, all my life I felt like I didn’t belong.  There was this sense of loneliness.  A loneliness that was unexplainable.  A longing to leave and venture out to where I was from.  A longing to be in Puerto Rico.

I always asked Mami, why they came over here to the Big City.  And I always got the same answer. “I don’t know, Mami dijo que teniamos que venir to live better, para mas opportunities and so I could take care of my nephews while my hermana went to work at her factory job.

Let’s just say I have stories and stories.  But for now let’s get back to me and my longing to go back to my original roots, to where my ancestors lived and where they continue to lay their souls to rest.  La Isla del Encanto!

Point blank…Puerto Rico is being Gentrified…

They attract Gringos to the country with the abomination of Act 22 and Act 20.

More info will be provided when I feel like taking the time to write more.

For now, I’ve been feeling the emotions of Bad Bunny’s short film that was released a day before his New Album comes out.

Haven’t seen it? Watch it here…
